  • Every booking on one calendar
  • Quick to set up — no approval needed
  • Back-to-back bookings flagged
  • Guest details stay private

A double booking is when two guests book the same night on two different sites. It almost always happens in the gap between calendars — one site hasn’t heard about the other’s booking yet. The answer is one calendar that every site reads from.

One calendar for everything

SortedStay puts every booking on one calendar for each property, colour-coded so you can see where it came from at a glance:

  • Every booking siteAirbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Expedia.
  • Your own websiteDirect bookings land on the same calendar.
  • Bookings you add yourselfPhone bookings, friends and family, your own stays.
  • Closed datesMaintenance days and nights you want to keep free.

Two ways to connect your sites

Calendar links (iCal) — the quick start

Every booking site gives each listing a calendar link. Paste it into SortedStay, then paste SortedStay’s link back into the site. That’s it — it takes a few minutes and needs no approval. The one catch: each site checks the link on its own schedule, so there can be a short gap where a very last-minute booking slips through.

A full connection — the safest option

For listings that book quickly, connect them through SortedStay’s channel manager. Bookings and dates pass between sites within minutes, so the gap almost disappears.

Back-to-back bookings, flagged

When one guest leaves and another arrives on the same day, SortedStay marks it on the calendar and on the cleaning job, so your cleaner knows it’s a tight changeover before they set off.

Your link only shares what’s needed

The calendar link SortedStay gives to other sites only shows which nights are booked and which are free. It never includes guest names, prices or door codes. If you ever want a new link, you can make one in a click.

New to this?

The words, in plain English

Never used a channel manager before? Most hosts haven’t. Here is what the terms on this page mean.

Channel
Any website where guests can book your place — Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, or your own website.
Channel manager
Software that keeps all those sites in step. A booking on one closes the dates on the others, and a price you change goes everywhere.
Availability
Which nights are free to book and which are taken or blocked.
Sync
Short for synchronise — copying changes between sites automatically, so they all show the same thing.
Double booking
Two guests booked into the same property for the same night, usually on two different sites.
Calendar link (iCal)
A simple link each site can read to see your booked nights. Quick to set up, but checked less often than a full connection.
Channex
An approved connection partner. Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo let software connect to them through partners like this.
Minimum stay
The fewest nights a guest can book — for example two nights at weekends.

Questions hosts ask

The honest answers

Is iCal sync enough to stop double bookings?

For quieter listings it usually is. Each site checks calendar links on its own schedule, so for listings that book quickly, a full channel manager connection is safer.

What can Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo see from my SortedStay calendar link?

Only which nights are booked and which are free. Each property gets a calendar link you paste into Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo so they block nights booked elsewhere. It never shares guest names, prices or door codes.

Can I add bookings by hand?

Yes. Phone bookings, friends and family, owner stays — add them to the calendar and every channel closes those dates.
