Hot tub care for holiday lets:
a simple routine
A hot tub can be the reason a guest books — and the reason they leave a bad review. A clear routine, followed every time, keeps it the first one.
Every hot tub is different, so your manufacturer’s guidance comes first. What follows is the routine around it: who does what, and when.
For many guests, the hot tub is the highlight of their stay. It is also the part of a holiday let that needs the most care, because water quality matters for both comfort and safety.
Between every stay
These checks should happen at every changeover, before the next guest arrives. They only take a few minutes once they are part of the routine.
- Test the waterSanitiser and pH, within the ranges your manufacturer gives.
- Check it’s clearCloudy or smelly water means it isn’t ready for the next guest.
- FiltersRinse or swap as your routine says.
- Cover and stepsClean, safe and in good repair.
- Record itReadings, time and who did it — with a photo.
- Guest notesA short, clear guide to using the tub safely.
On a schedule
Some jobs don’t need doing every stay, but they do need doing regularly. Put them in your calendar so they don’t get forgotten.
- Drain, clean and refill on the schedule your manufacturer and water-treatment guidance recommend — more often for busy tubs.
- Deep-clean filters and replace them when they wear.
- Book a professional service at least once a year.
Make it a team job
Many hosts give the hot tub its own team — a technician or a trained cleaner — with its own checklist. That way readings are always taken, and you can see when the tub was last checked and by whom.
Peace of mind
A clear routine, written down and followed every time, protects your guests and your reviews. Keep a record of each check, and you will always know when the tub was last looked after and by whom.
